The 11th Annual Peter DeVries Invitational Tournament is to be held June 19-22, 2014, at John Fry Park and Goldstick Park in Edmonton. This tournament, hosted by the Edmonton Cardinals team 1 & 2 and run by the South Edmonton Elite Baseball Association (SEEBA) is open to players age 19-and-under and usually includes a mixture of Midget AAA, Babe Ruth, American Legion and Little League teams. All teams are guaranteed four games, with local teams playing their first game on the Thursday night and out-of-town teams starting on the Friday night. This is a wood bat tournament. All games will be played by the official rules of Baseball Canada, with the exception of allowing an optional courtesy runner (who is not in the line-up) for the catcher with two out.
We are ready to play with 8 teams in this year’s Peter DeVries Invitational Tournament:
•Edmonton Cardinals 1
•Edmonton Cardinals 2
•St. Albert Cardinals
•Red Deer Braves
•Spruce Grove White Sox
Reply to me by email and please include the following information for the Head Coach and Off Field Manager for each team:
•First & Last Name
•Position (Head Coach, Off-field Manager, Assistant Coach… etc)
•Cell Phone Number (accessible during tournament)
•Team Website (if one exists)
This information will be used by tournament staff to communicate with you before and during the tournament so it is important we have at least two contacts for each team. Feel free to include additional contacts (like assistant coaches) if you would like us to include them in email updates.
Other things to note…
There will be an Admission charge for spectators to our tournament.
•$3 for a single game ticket
•$10 for a single weekend pass (all games)
•$20 for a family weekend pass (all games)
Tournament players and coaches in uniform are admitted free of charge to all games.
SEEBA will provide hot food concessions at both John Fry and Goldstick ballparks beginning with Friday evening games and continuing throughout the tournament.
A Program will be printed for the tournament and is included as part of the spectator admission fee. The program is an important part of the tournament both as a tool for scouting and identification as well as adding to spectator enjoyment.
The SEEBA website has a tournament page that will be updated with information as it becomes available. The website will also be updated with scores and other details throughout the tournament so you may want to bookmark it for quick reference. Click on the TOURNAMENT tab on the left side of the home page to get started. Details from previous tournaments are available at the bottom of the SEEBA home page.
I look forward to seeing you all on the diamond in June!
