Mike Faulkner, CF Germantown HS on Signing Day with Arkansas State U

"I want to thank Mr. Alvin Rittman for helping me get better over the past couple of summers and improving my game. He has played a major part in my recruiting process and in getting me into college. He has been my coach for the past 3 summers. He has known me ever since I was 14 years old, so he probably can tell you everything there is about my skills."

Parents Tony and Becky Cox

Alvin - we wanted to express our thanks and appreciation to you and the APAK organization.  Both of our sons, TJ and Taylor (Bug) have had the opportunity to play for APAK - there are honestly no words that can speak highly enough of the level of professionalism, dedication, and support you have given them, and to each and every player in your program.

TJ had an opportunity to play APAK summer baseball – he’s never had so much fun playing ball!  On top of that, he got to meet his future college coach, Marc MacMillan.  We couldn’t be happier that TJ will be playing for Coach MacMillan at Crichton– we have a tremendous amount of respect for what he does both on and off the baseball field.  We know that TJ will continue to grow under Marc’s guidance.  We don’t believe all of this could have happened without you and the APAK organization.

We also wanted to let you know how much we’ve enjoyed watching all the kids in the program – we’ve developed lifelong friendships with you, the coaches, parents and players.  We truly feel that we have become part of a family and we’re excited that we get to keep going for the next several years to come!!

Thanks For What You Do!!

Tony and Becky Cox

Dale and Derek McCollum RP Horn Lake HS(MS) committed to Tusculum College(TN)

Derek and I want to thank you and your coaches, Marc MacMillan and Taylor Fowler, for an outstanding summer. Derek was able to showcase his talents throughtout the summer and he had a blast while doing it. If any parent want to know the difference between APAK and other competitive teams, please have them to call me. APAK is a professional organization with the kids in mind. My biggest mistake was not getting Derek to APAK sooner. Alvin Rittman took the time to work one-on-one with Derek and he truly cares about the kids and it shows. Derek and I both gained a lifelong friend this summer.

Thanks again and God Bless,

Dale & Derek McCollum

Caleb McClanahan RP Wynne HS(AR)
Wynne pitcher picks A-State: Caleb McClanahan knew he wanted to play Division I baseball when he was in the ninth grade.
McClanahan won’t throw the first pitch of his senior season for several months, but Wynne’s star right-hander already knows he’s going to reach his college goal. He made a verbal commitment to Arkansas State on Monday, becoming the third in-state prospect to choose the Indians.
Memphis and Southern Illinois were other schools McClanahan considered.

McClanahan (6-4, 180) spent the summer pitching for the APAK 18u All Stars, a traveling team based in Memphis. He went 4-4 with a 2.48 earned run average over 362⁄3 innings, averaging 5.3 strikeouts per game. Developing a slider is one of McClanahan’s goals as he pitches for APAK this fall.
“Hopefully I can use it as my senior year progresses,” McClanahan said. “I’m gaining a lot of velocity, and my mechanics are pretty good right now. I think everything is good right now.”
McClanahan has been clocked in the 88-91 mph range. He hopes gaining extra strength over the fall and winter will add even more speed to his fastball. “I try to mix up all my pitches in high school,” McClanahan said. “Last year I didn’t throw my changeup as much, but I developed it this summer. I’m going to use that more in my senior year.”

McClanahan pitched in the East Coast Professional Baseball Showcase at Lakeland, Fla., just over a month ago. Around 500 pro and college scouts watched more than 150 players in the 4-day, invitation-only event that is sponsored by Major League Baseball.
In three innings at the showcase, McClanahan allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out three batters.

“There were a lot of scouts who were there, and I got a lot of looks from playing summer ball with APAK.”

Dear Alvin, Rod, Nick and Carlos:

Alvin, our family just wanted to thank you for all of the assistance our son Caleb received through the APAK program. There is absolutely no doubt that his dream of playing Division I baseball would not have come true without the help of APAK. We had a goal and absolutely no idea how to achieve it. APAK provided the program that made a child's dream come true. The fact that you are willing to share your vast knowledge of the game so freely is a testament to your love of the game and fellow man. It is entirely evident that you do what you do for the benefit of the kids. Your gift has been a blessing to our entire family. We will always be in your debt.

I would also like to thank all of the coaches who likewise have become much, much more than coaches to Caleb. Rod Griggs is a dear friend of our family and motivated Caleb to reach for the stars when the moon seemed out of reach. His leadership, motivation and mentorship have been invaluable. He builds foundations to build houses on. His single minded pursuit of greatness in the kids is an inspiration. He teaches the kids to be mentally better than others and believe in themselves through preparation. Nick Steht possesses an understanding of pitching that boggles the mind. His tireless pursuit of perfection and ability to communicate are awesome. Mentally and physically, Caleb has improved weekly under his tutelage. Carlos James is a players coach that never stops demanding the best of all those around him. What a great summer we had watching him push the guys to exceed their own expectations.

Again, we thank everyone at APAK for making Caleb's dream a reality. He was prepared correctly and placed in the right situations to succeed. For those who choose to begin this journey, there could not be a better place than APAK. We thank you again for exceeding our wildest expectations. We will always be grateful to everyone that had a hand in Caleb's development. And we will always thank God for the fateful day that we were fortunate enough to be invited into the APAK family. God bless you all for blessing us. You will forever be in our hearts. We are humbled to be able to call you all "friend".

Most sincerely,

Mac, Paulette, Caleb, Grace and Noah McClanahan

" A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove..... But the world
may be different because I was important in the life of a child. "

Doug Kovash, Pitching Coach, U of Alabama Birmingham 12-5-07

Alvin,

Just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for all that you do for baseball. We are the direct beneficiary of your hard work and I really appreciate your help in getting Shay Crawford to play for us.

He had a great 1st Year- Pitching every week-end in Conference USA and then went out and improved pitching in the Great Lakes League in Delaware, OH this Summer.

He is a great kid, Great Student, and a Good Match for our System @UAB! Thanks Again,

Doug Kovash, UAB Pitching Coach.
