DESCRIPTION:The Black Flyers started off the pre-season tournament with a b
ang. \n\nHardest working Flyer Award 'Alex M'\n\n\nDespite a very strong s
tart and several chances\, the Seals pulled to a fairly early one nothing
lead. Evan D quickly answered the bell\, to tie it up with a great shot o
ff a quick pass from Owen B. The period ended in a tie largely because of
the great defensive work of the twin towers Alex M. and Luke F. Dante S.
also had a great period with several shots on net. The second period th
e Black Flyers cranked it up a little but some bad luck bounces worked aga
inst them. Dante S. continued his torrid shot pace\, but the Seals goalie
stood on his head. Colin S. who played goal for the Black Flyers was pla
ying great positional goaltending and making big saves\, but two squeaked
by him despite him making that important 1st save. The second period Teag
ue M had several great rushes and plays\, but great defensive work from th
e Seals denied him of what could have been some great chances. Shelby B.
also cranked it up as the game went on winning tons of battles in the neut
ral zone to allow her teammates to get some great chances\, including a gr
eat breakaway shot by Kostubh A. The third period is where the Black Flye
rs proved that they may end up being the hardest working team in the City.
Ben D. and Owen B scored goals after huge efforts by there teammates to
get them the puck. Cole F. left all the gas in the tank out on the ice\,
as he broke up several big plays\, and rushed the puck through several pl
ayers. The entire team put forth such an effort in the 3rd that they tied
the game up and sent it to overtime. In overtime the 1st 3 players went
out being\, Owen\, Luke and Kostubh\, and they spent the entire two minute
s in the attack zone\, and had 3-4 chances to put it away\, but the Seals
goalie came up big. Ben D and Nick O. were next up and Nick&#039\;s fine
defensive display led to a Ben D shot and the eventual game winner. Alex
M had one of the plays of the game in the 2nd when he chased down a 3 on
zero and broke up the play. Colin&#039\;s best save of the game was a ful
l extension stick save sprawled across the goal line. What a game Black F
 lyers!!! Great Work.\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Our 2nd game of the tournament we got off to a great start. Up
quickly in the 1st 2-0 thanks to the Shelby\, Dante H\, and Alex H line w
hich got both goals thanks to some great passing from the twins and some g
reat checking and hard work by Shelby. Evan D also had some great rushes
and Dante S had a great shot on net. Luke F played hard on the forecheck
and was tough along the boards in the 1st half of the game. Ben D made a
great pass to Owen B early in the game as well but the shot never material
ized and almost went to Colin S for an open net shot but it ended up in th
e corner. The defence pairing of Alex M and Cole F had a stellar game cle
aring the front of the net and continually moving the puck up to the forwa
rds. Kostubh and Nicholas O also had a great game rushing the puck and th
e team really started to show their speed. In the 3rd period the team had
a bit of a work effort meltdown and Westdale pulled ahead and took the ga
me despite the play of digger of the game Teague M who stood on his head t

DESCRIPTION:It was a tough game for the Black Flyers as they seemed somewha
t overmatched from the start. Quick goals from the SWHA team took the win
d out of the sails early. Teague M had another stellar game in net\, desp
ite letting in 7 goals\, they could have let in 20 if not for his brillian
t saves. The line of Alex H Dante H and Owen B generated some chances and
turned it up as the game went on. Ben D\, Luke F and Shelby B\, had one
of the best 3 way passing plays of the game nearly leading to a goal by Be

was deadly. The d pairings of Nicholas O and Kostubh A faired well agains

DESCRIPTION:The Black Flyers tournament came to an end as the Black Flyers
got off to a slow start and despite a gutsy performance over the last two
periods\, fell 4-2 to Selkirk. Some roster moves paid off as Kostubh A mo
ved up to forward to centre the twins\, and their line scored both goals f
or the Black Flyers(both by Dante)\, and Kostubh captured digger of the ga
me. Owen B and Ben D moved back to d and both made some great plays and a
lso made great end to end rushes! Big Mac kept up his stellar play as he h
ad about 5 keepers at the blue line and broke up numerous plays. Luke F h
ad the defensive play of the game\, rushing back to break up what looked t
o be a 2 on 0\, and reached out and poked the puck away at the last second
. Colin S had a rough start after a couple of breakaways by Selkirk&#039\
;s top players\, but settled in nicely and made 5-6 key saves to keep the
Black Flyers hopes alive. Nicholas O who moved to forward and Dante S had
some good goal scoring chances but just missed as did Cole F. Teague M p
laying his 1st game on D did not look out of place\, making several key de
fensive plays in the neutral and attacking zone to keep the puck moving to
ward the opposition net. Shelby B didnt keep up her torrid shots on goal
pace but made several aggressive forechecking plays one leading to a chanc
e by Nicholas O. Evan D who had his 1st game at centre slowly moved into
his comfort zone and started making some great plays as the game wore on\,
but a stick here and a bounce there kept any real offence from getting st
arted. \n\nHardest working Flyer Award 'Kostubh'\n\n

disoriented and slow. Colin was hung out to dry in his 1st game in net i
n 3 games\, but continued to make the 1st save. If not for him it could ha

lied in the second winning the period 1-0 on a goal by Kostubh. Owen\, Da

F had a few great rushes and a strong skating game. Luke F took some time

as having a strong offensive game rushing the puck out of the zone but had
some issues playing position in the zone\, however he did bust up a coupl

work. Evan D made some great rushes out of the zone\, but was stopped by

DESCRIPTION:It was great to have Alex H and Dante H back and they made an i
mmediate impact on the Ice. The whole teams intensity level was much bette
r this game and if not for a couple late bounces that went against us\, th
is was a very close game. The Hardest Working Flyer was Ben who scored twi
ce and backchecked hard. Evan scored a nice goal to provide some secondary
scoring. Nick was named th passer of the game. It appears the Black Flye
 rs are back on track.

DESCRIPTION:This was one of the best games of the year for the Flyers. Ever
y player on the Ice gave a solid effort and kept there focus for the most
part. Dante S\, Dante H\, and Alex H provided the scoring. The Defence and
Goaltending was excellent today and at one point went 13 shifts in a row
without giving up a goal. Colin made some timely saves late to preserve th
e tie. Luke was named the Hardest Working Flyer and gave his best effort o
f the season. Credit also has to be given to Kostubh who has filled in gre
at on the defense for the last two games. Way to go guys\, next up FARGO.
 See you on the Waterslides.

DESCRIPTION:Great game by the Black Flyers today. The First peroid saw plen
ty of Black Flyer chances but some solid goaltending at the other end kept
the game scoreless. The Black Flyers continued to move the puck well and
backcheck hard and Ben finally broke the ice with a hard wrist shot top sh
elf. The third period again started great with solid break outs that led t
o two quick goals by Kostubh. Colin was not tested often but when he was h
e was up to the challenge stopping every shot he faced for the Shutout. Ko

DESCRIPTION:We knew going in this would be a tough game going up against th
e first place team. But The Flyers turned out arguably their best game of
the entire season. Everyone was skating hard today. The Norberry Squad wer
e a big physical team but the Flyers didn&#039\;t give an inch and often o
ut muscled their bigger opponents. The defense pairing of Nick and Alex M
were outstanding today they pressued the Norberry forwards on every rush a
nd it was rare if Norberry even got a shot off when they were on the ice.
All of our Forwards were making smart plays and the passing was exceptiona
l especially the play out of the corner which led to the first goal by Kos
tubh. Colin was very good in net and Evan showed a lot of guts by playing
hard this weekend when he was clearly not feeling his best.\n\nGreat Job F
lyers Thats 4 good games in a row. \n\nHardest Working Flyer Award goes to
  D_pairing of Nick and Alex.

DESCRIPTION:Itj was another solid effort for the Flyers. Dante H led the of
fensive attack from the back potting two goals\, while Kostubh added two m

s to thwart the SJR attack. Luke hustled hard all game long earning him th

decision making \,led to several Flyers goals and chances. Teague also was
a standout tonight his focus was strong as was his hunger for the puck. S
JR had trouble getting rushes started and that was thanks to Teague consta
ntly pestering them. The Flyers go for two in a row to end the season.
