Light and Heat Bills Posted: Feb 3/11 09:28 am CST This winter our light and heating bills are unbelievably high...($3200 bill last month )we need to seriously start conserving as much as possible. These bills are going to break us. There have been mornings when Todd arrives at the arena and the lights and heat are still on from the night before. The lights and heat have been on in the north end of the arena and kids have been in there playing floor hockey or just running around. Kids have been coming into the arena on weekends when there are no games going on. The heaters above the bleachers have been on during practice times... all of these things and probably more have contributed to huge bills for us. As most of you are aware, the cost of electricity has risen dramatically since last year (about 12% since March - it jumped another 5% in Jan.) and it is almost a certainty that it is to go up another 17% or more (yes 17% or more) this coming March!!! This is huge. If we dont do what we can to conserve, these bills will break us. Either that or our participation fees and other revenue generating sources will have to increase as well. Please be aware of this situation and do what you can to help the hockey program keep on top of this.

RE: Light and Heat Bills Posted: Feb 27/11 02:42 pm CST I don't understand why the old lights need to be on at all? When i played hockey all we had were the old lights, and noone complained. Probably costs triple to have them on. We need to put tape or something over the switches? If people have a problem with that i guess they won't mind when registration costs double next year?
