Game Notes: Close game tonight. We played another good defensive game, In the first inning UNC hit the ball HARD and scored 3 runs. We made some good plays in the outfield to get the ball in quickly and that's what we need. David and Calvin did a great job of moving to the ball and throwing it in. In the bottom half of the 1st, we put 3 on the board also with hits from Branan, Brandon, Dawson, and Jalen. Even though Calvin made an out, it was a productive out that scored 2 runs. In the top of the 2nd, we held UNC scoreless on 3 strikeouts. We scored 2 runs on hits by Mitch, Alex, and Griffin. Alex had a big hit that scored 2 runs! In the 3rd inning, UNC hit the ball hard again, but we held them to 4 runs. As the home team, we had one more crack and we came through with flying colors. Dawson led off with a single and Jonah connected for his 2nd homerun in as many games, which tied the score at 7. Jalen kept the rally going with a single and the BIG hit of the night came off of David...who knocked in the winning run with a Triple to right center. Mitch followed with an RBI single to finish the scoring and the game. Final score BAMA 9, UNC 7.
All around good game. Everyone ran the bases really well and listened. We made some awesome plays both in the infield and outfield. David, Griffin, and Calvin got the ball in quickly from the outfield to prevent extra bases. Jalen threw a runner out at 2nd from 3rd for a nice force play. Jonah almost turned a double play, but we couldn't hold the ball at 1st. No harm was done as the next batter hit the ball to Jonah for an easy force out at 2nd for the last out of the inning. Dawson and Branan played great at first and are improving daily. Dawson, Mitch, and Brandon did a great job at catcher. We are the only team that puts kids behind the plate that can catch. We will get people out at home before the year is over! Everyone gave 100% and we played well as a team! That is all you can ask for at this age. Everyone should be proud to watch this team grow and learn the game. Get ready to play the Huskies of Washington Saturday morning at 10:15.
