| Game Notes: The Thunder advanced to Championship Sunday of the Minnetonka Tournament with a thrilling 5-4 win over Coon Rapids Saturday. Righthander Casey Jacobson (3-2) tossed six innings of five hit baseball to earn the win. He yielded just two earned runs, walked three and struck out a season-high seven. Jacobson exited with a 5-2 lead into the seventh, and Dan "Dee" Coyle was summoned from the pen to get the final three outs. Coon Rapids plated two runs and put the tying run on second base with one out before Coyle slammed the door to preserve the victory and pick up his second save of the season. The Thunder offense, which had scored ten or more runs in each of its previous four games heading into Saturday, was held to just five hits on the day, two by Joel Bertelsen (RBI). Sam "Wolfman" Foy (2B) scored twice and drove in a run and Adam "Iceman" Shie scored one and knocked in one. Spencer Pratt drove in one with a sac fly; rookie call-up Cody Groskreutz and Corey Meyer both walked and scored once. The club now awaits the winner of Pool B in Sunday's Championship game. | ||||||||||
