| Game Notes: The Thunder kept their championship hopes alive and eliminated Eden Prairie with a 9-1 win Saturday morning. Starter Dan Coyle went the route, giving up no earned runs and scattering four hits; he faced just five batters over the minimum. He struck out seven and walked none. In just his second start on the season and likely the last of his Thunder career, Coyle produced a gem and gave the club a much-needed lift. Of the 21 outs recorded against the Eagles, just two left the infield. The offense also got untracked. After nearly being no-hit the previous day, the club responded with nine runs on ten hits. Tom Bauer (SAC,RS) had the lone extra base hit, a double in the seventh. Cory Meyer (SB,RS) had three RBI; Sam Foy and Joel Bertelsen each drove in a pair. Andy Gensch and Pete "Z-Man" Zukanoff added RBI. With the win, the Thunder (16-6, 3-1) advances to the final four and will face the winner of Saturday's other elimination game between Cretin and Shoreview. The South Division now has three teams stil alive, with Burnsville and Lakeville North squaring off in a battle of two teams without a loss. | ||||||||||
