| Game Notes: The Thunder (13-1, 5-1) rode a six-run first inning to a 10-0 win over Coon Rapids in the Championship game of the Richfield Tournament. The victory capped 4-0 weekend which saw the club outscore its opponents 46-9, including two 5 inning shut-outs. It was the first in-season tournament win in six seasons, and established a new team high for wins over .500 at twelve. Once again the Thunder pitching staff was stingy, allowing just three hits to a Rapids club that came into Sunday having won three straight in convincing fashion. The Thunder offense staked starter Joey Voss (4-0) to 6-0 lead after one, and reliever Sam Foy made it stand up with two hitless innings. Foy struck out four of the eight batters he faced. Matt DeCovich had a three-hit night, with two RBI; Joel Bertelsen had a triple and two RBI; and Lucas Haug knocked in three. Sam Foy added a pair of RBI and Peter Zukanoff enjoyed a two-hit night with a run scored. The Thunder returns to league play Monday against Eagan at Rahn Park. Righthander Robbie Sikich takes the bump in a pivotal South Division match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM. | ||||||||||
