Game Notes: After digging a very deep 6-0 hole, for himself and his teammates, senior Kevin Robinson allowed just 1 run and 2 hits over the final 6 innings, as the Popes battled back to take a thriller from #3 ranked Marquette, 8-7 at Miller Park. Robinson walked 2 and hit 2 more in the first inning to put the Popes on the long end of the score. The Popes battled back scoring 2 in the third on RBI singles by A.J. Seagraves and Robinson. They managed to score 3 in the 4th without a hit, and two more in the 5th on a booming triple to center by senior Joe Schreck who was out at the plate trying for an inside the park home run. In the bottom of the 7th, Nick Majeske struck out swinging, but reached first when the ball got away from the catcher. Robinson then lined a single to left and after Greg Grocholski laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt to move the runners, Schreck was intentionally walked to load the bases. Andy Brzakala fell behind in the count 1-2 then hit a bouncer to first that was just soft enough to allow Majeske to arrive at the same time as the ball, jarring it loose from the catcher and the comeback was complete. Robinson struck out 7 in going the distance, and contributed two singles, an RBI and scored one. Schreck, in addition to his 2 run triple, added a single to lead the 7 hit attack.
