Game Notes: Braves avenge an early season loss to Carolina Forest by beating the Panthers 7-5 at Socastee Field making up a game that was previously rained out. The JV's fall behind two runs in the top of the first but respond by plating three runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning. While holding a tenuous lead in the sixth inning, the bottom of the order produces two key insurance runs to preserve the win with heads up baserunning from Trevor Bigham and Zach Hyde. Kyle Smith went the distance on the mound for the Braves, throwing 111 pitches while allowing only one earned run. The offense rapped out ten hits, again led by Dalton Smith (2-3, 2b, rbi) and Kyle Smith (2-4, 2b, r). Also contributing were Manny Berdayes (1-2, bb, 2rbi), Hayden Miller (1-3, 2b, 2r, rbi), Zach Hyde (1-1, r), Trevor Bigham (1-3, r), Hunter Renfrow (1-4, rbi, sb), and Chase Keevert (1-4, r). |
