Game
Notes:
Frojd & Buck (3) Eastview (11-6) lost its final game of pool play in the Lakeville Woodbat Tournament against Hastings. After falling behind 4-0 early, the Lightning battled back to tie it at 4's. Hastings re-took the lead right away again in the 5th and it was 6-4 until the 7th when Eastview had first and second with 1 out. Furnstahl (HBP, BB) and Grimm (4 SB) executed a double steal. Following a wild pitch, Eastview had the tying run on 3rd with 1 out. Hastings, knowing that a tie would get them to Quarterfinal play as well, kept the infield back. Perlenfein hit a groundball but the run did not score and was ultimately stranded on 3rd to end the game. Eastview was hurt by leaving runners on base (9 total, 7 in scoring position) and walking too many Hastings hitters (3 of the 6 runs scored reached on BBs). The Lightning will take Sunday off and come back against another strong opponent in Minneapolis. The Millers are undefeated in league play and beat Eastview 4-0 a few weeks ago. Scott Perlenfein (4-1, 2.84) will take the ball in the Lightning's first game under the lights this season. After winning 8 of 9 and 7 straight, they hope to start a new streak with a big league win! Game time is set for 815pm at the new Quarry Point #1 field. Buck (L, 1-2) |
