Game
Notes:
Perlenfein, Ferber (7), Buck (7) & Perlenfein (7) Eastview (16-10-1) defeated division leaders Prior Lake 7-5 to take the first two games against them on the season. After falling behind on 3 unearned runs in the 1st, the Lightning battled back to tie the game. Grimm, Perlenfein & Buck all had singles in the 3rd inning and with the score 3-1, Kyllo put a tough 2-strike pitch in play to get an RBI fielder's choice. Ronhovde (3 1B, 2 RS) led off the 4th with a single and scored on an RBI double by Frojd (SB, RS) to tie the game. Prior Lake scored in the 5th to take the lead but Eastview didn't wait to tie the game and ended up taking the lead. Furnstahl (2 SB, RS) led off the 6th with a single and Ronhovde singled him to 3rd. Ferber walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored a run to tie the game and advanced the trail runners into scoring position. After a popout and a walk, Grimm came up with the bases loaded with only 1 out in a tie game. In the 4th inning, Grimm couldn't get the squeeze bunt down and it cost the Lightning as they didn't end up hitting the run in. They gave him another shot at it and he put down a perfect bunt down the first base line. The Lightning scored 2 runs on the play as Ferber was sent home all the way from second base on the play. Up 6-4 after 6, Eastview manufactured another run to stretch the lead. Herro led off the inning with a single and was bunted to second by cleanup hitter Michael Kyllo. Furnstahl singled him to 3rd and stole 2nd. Herro scored a few pitches later on a wild pitch and with an errant throw on that play at the plate, Furnstahl tried scoring from 2nd base but was gunned down on a great throw in what was a very close play. Perlenfein went out in the 7th with a 3-run lead looking for another CG. After walking the first hitter on 5 pitches, the Lightning brought in Ferber who retired the first hitter he faced then gave up an RBI single to bring the tying run to the plate. Eastview made another pitching change by bringing in Jack Buck. After walking the first guy to put the tying run on base, he got a weak groundball to short to advance the runners into scoring position. With 2 outs and runners on 2nd/3rd, Perlenfein took the mound again to complete the game he started. He dropped in a great 1-2 curveball to get the win and the save in the same game. The Lightning won 2 games in a row for the first time since their 7 game winning streak, which ended 3 weeks ago. Eastview now has a 1.5 game lead for 3rd place. After taking the weekend off, the Lightning play against Bloomington (6-7) & Burnsville (5-6-1) who are right behind them for 3rd and then another big game against Prior Lake (10-2) who is still 3 games up on them. Joey Furnstahl (3-3, 4.55) will take the ball in the first game of the week against Bloomington. It'll be "Furny"'s first start in over two weeks since he lost to Hillcrest. Before that loss, he won three consecutive games so he will look to start another winning streak. Perlenfein (W, 5-3) Perlenfein (SV, 3) |
