Notes:
The Braves finish their third week of play by trouncing West Brunswick 16-4 in five innings, and improve their record to 8-2. Socastee started slow out of the gate, but a key 4 run third inning where all the runs were scored with two outs seemed to ignite the offense. The Braves exploded for 9 runs in the fourth, and tacked on 2 in the fifth to trigger the mercy rule. Chris Drake (2.2 ip, 4k) and Kyle Smith (2.1 ip, 0er, 3k) shared duties on the hill, while Manny Berdayes (3-4, 2-2b, 3rbi) led the charge offensively for the Braves. Getting a pair of hits each were Chris Drake (2-3, 3b, 2r, 2rbi), Kyle Smith (2-4, 2b, 3r, 2rbi), Chase Keevert (2-4, 2r, 2rbi), Hayden Miller (2-4, 2b, r, rbi), and Cobi Guilbeau (2-5, r). Rounding out the 16 hit attack were Bubba Martin (1-4, 2r, 2rbi), Walker Darnell (1-4, r, rbi), and Hunter Renfrow (1-4, r). West Brunswick becomes the second team this season to see the Braves score thirty runs over the two contests. |
