| Game Notes: Yesterday, Pius defeated Carmel (IN) 12-4 and earlier Carmel defeated Mt Vernon (IN) by a score of 9-5. So, conventional wisdom would dictate a Pius vistory ... wrongo! The Popes, perhaps looking past Mt Vernon suffered a frustrating 5-3 defeat, setting up a winner take-all showdown with the hosts from Hamilton Southeastern in the Hoosier Classic. Sophomore Peter Behnke making his second start of the season, was the victim of the non-support as he he allowed just 3 earned runs in 4 and 2/3. Joe Schreck was the lone bright spot for the offense, collecting half of the Popes 4 hits. | ||||||||||
