Notes:
Selchow, McDevitt (2), Bangh (4), Leighton (5), Terlizzi (6) & Augustin (6) ROCHESTER -- Eastview (21-14-2) lost their road playoff matchup to Rochester. In the first, Bangh and Selchow had back-to-back walks in front of a McDevitt single to load the bases. An RBI groundout was all they managed to push across as they began chasing too many pitches. Rochester scored 3 runs in the 2nd following a leadoff error to start the inning. In the 3rd, McDevitt, Ibeneme and Terlizzi all singled to push one runner in. After a fielder's choice for the first out, the Lightning baserunners hit a wall. They ran into a double play - the turning point in the game. Rochester put up the next 6 runs to go up 9-2 and once Eastview put one up, the Raptors put up the next 4 to win it 13-3 on a mercy rule. Eastview's pitchers struggled all night long, walking 11 batters, hitting one & giving up 10 hits. It was an all-around ugly game in all facets. The Lightning have to be able to shake it off with a short memory because the Gopher State Tournament begins tomorrow night against Minnetonka Blue. Jordan Johansen (3-1, 3.90) takes the ball in the pool play opener. Game time is set for 615pm. Selchow (L, 4-4) |
