Notes:
On Sunday, the coaches spoke to the players to completely forget about what happened on Saturday. They listened and handed the opposing team’s first defeat of the season with an impressive 3-0 shutout. During the 1st half, Blackburn controlled the ball and kept it on the offensive side. Late in the 1st half, Billy took a long pass from Ethan (who was actually playing defense at the time) and scored the team’s first goal. Billy had several shots stopped earlier in the game and it was only a matter of time for him to make a goal. This was also Billy’s first goal of the season. Congrats! In the 2nd half, Patrick continued his knack for scoring as he netted another goal for the season from a pass from Zach Neff. Zach Neff was obviously not satisfied with only an assist and took a beautiful set pass from Ben Brown to score his first goal of the season. The defense should also not be overlooked as each player played a part to preserve the shutout. Zach Hyman and Michael played very hard in the midfield position chasing balls down on both sides of the field. Austin once again played great as he set up the offense and also stopped the offensive drives from the opposing team. Zach Weisman played a strong offense in the 1st half and preserved the shutout in the 2nd half by stopping several shots on goal. Jonathan Wong and Matthew Cha, John and Justin also played great on both defense and offense. Overall, a nice team effort as the team record now stands at 2-2 as they enter the 2nd half of the season. MVP Offense: Ben Brown – Ben showed his ball handling skills as he set up one goal and took several corner kicks to put pressure on the other team. Congrats Ben! MVP Defense: Justin Leff- Justin exhibited strong defense at various times in the game to preserve the shutout. Congrats Justin! |
