Game Notes: The Waukesha Firebirds and Rockford Sluggers battled for 6 innings with neither Team giving any ground. The Waukesha Firebirds jumped out to a 2 run lead in the first inning thanks to Sean Staral and Storm Muehl getting on base and Darin Howell ripped a ball in the hole between SS and 3rd base and nearly beat it out. But on this play both Sean and Storm scored with very heads up base running. These 2 runs were all the Firebirds needed , Due to some outstanding pitching by Mitch Ducett and Alex Lawrence and TY Neuschaefer. In this game the Firebird defense was awesome. Tyler Coffey made 3 great catches in center field to stop possible rallies by the Sluggers and with the play of the weekend Mitch Ducett went deep in the hole at ss and came up with a perfect throw to get the 3rd out in the 5th inning saving the tieing run from scoring from third. This was a all around great Team win and a outstanding way to start the 2005 season. The Firebirds win 2-1
