| Game Notes: The Thunder (8-5-1, 5-4-1) played crosstown rival Apple Valley to a 1-1 extra innings tie Tuesday at Legion Field. The game was called after the ninth inning due to time constraints. Valley struck for one early run against Thunder starter Brad "B-Train" Landgrebe, who battled his way out of a first inning bases-loaded jam. Landgerebe went six strong innings, yielding just four hits, striking out six and walking three. The Thunder rallied for a single run in the fifth when Beau "Ichibeau" Jacobson hit a two-out single, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored from second on John Grotkin's ground ball to short which went for an error. "Easy" Eddie Hagberg came on in the seventh to pitch three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief. Nick "the Fantastic" Molitor had three hits (31B, SB); Landgrebe (SB) helped his own cause with two singles; Jeremy "JJ" McKay and Mitch Haug had two singles and Jake Kruegel added a single for the club. Both teams were unbale to capitalize on multiple scoring chances: the Thunder left nine men on base and Apple Valley stranded 15 of its baserunners on the night. The Thunder returns to action Friday against Eagan in the Firecracker Classic at Legion Field. | ||||||||||||
