Game Notes: The Second day of pool play brought one of the most exciting and well played game of the Tourn. by The Firebirds and the Wildcats. The Waukesha Firebirds won this game 4-0 in 7 innings in a very dramatic way. Brandon Berghoefer pitched 6 innings of no-hit baseball and Mitch Ducett claosed the deal with a 1 hit 7th inning. This pitching effort and great defense by the Firebirds allowed them to pull out the fantastic finish. Conor Sherman led off the bottom of the 7th inning with a single and then with 2 outs Sean Staral came through with another single and Storm Muehl had a great at bat drawing a walk to give the Firebirds bases loaded with 2 outs and Darin Howell up to bat. Darin had a 1-2 count on him and had 2 great swings but just missed. In previous at bats the Wildcats got Darin to swing at some tough curve balls to strike him out. So we all expected them to throw a curve again . So in a strange but aggressive move the Firebirds sent Conor Sherman stealing home and to everyones surprise the Widcats threw a FASTBALL and Darin Howell (BLASTED) a WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM to WIN the game 4-0!!!!!!! This made the Firebirds 1-2 in pool play.
