Game Notes: The Waukesha Firebirds finish 31st out of 80 Teams in Cooperstown with a 4-2 loss to the Kennesaw Steam from G.A. This game was effected by a down pour of rain in the 3rd inning and made it very difficult to get any footing pitching or fielding or a grip on the ball to throw. But Mitch Ducett battled and gave everything he could to try to fight through this tough situation pitching. Finally when the umpires stopped the game in the 3rd for a 2 hour rain delay the Firebirds were down 4-0. But during this rain delay the Firebirds came together as a TEAM and instead of feeling sorry for their selves they put on a show for ALL spectators to enjoy. They Sang and danced and cheared and just put all bad thoughts out of their minds and when the rain stopped the Firebirds came out ANGRY and with a purpose to fight until they were told they could not play anymore. Mitch Ducett came out and struck out the next batter to get out of the 3rd inning and then TY Neuschaefer came in shut the Steam out the rest of the game. Alex Lawrence had 2 hits and scored both runs for the Firebirds. Samuel Vissers had a BIG 2 out hit to score a run for the Firebirds. Ty Neuschaefer also had a big single to score a run. But the Firebirds came up short in a 4-2 loss. But they played hard all week long and finished in as the # 31 Ranked Team for the week. These boys never quit all week and showed what it means to be a FIREBIRD. I'm proud of each one of them!!! I want to Thank all the Brothers and Sisters for coming along and cheering your brothers on and the rest of the team and a BIG THANK YOU to all the Parents and Grandparents for making this possible for all the boys and giving me the chance to Coach all of them at this AWESOME TOURNAMENT.
