Game Notes: Five Hundred. The Oakland Bad Boys have reached the .500 mark for the first time since June 16, 2009 after knocking off the Ruston Monarchs 8-2 at Fuchs Field Wednesday night. The Bad Boys offense finally showed signs of life, scoring 8 runs on 11 hits. Russ Breedlove, Travis Thomas, and Alika Antone had 2 hits apiece. Jeremy Acree and Noel Carlson both drove in 2 runs. Despite not tallying a hit, OBB catcher Josh Jacobson scored three runs and made the second best play of the game with a snap throw to pickoff a runner at first in the bottom of the 7th. Play of the game honors go to Danny Clemans, throwing out a runner at the plate with a laser from right to end the 3rd. On the mound, Marc Grenon, patiently worked through 4 innings, striking out the side in the 2nd inning. Alika and Danny closed the door, throwing 3 hitless innings while striking out 5 batters. NOTES... Steve Sloboda snapped a 9 game hitting streak dating back to August of last year, going 0-1... Speaking of hit streaks, Zack Larson went 1-3 to extend his streak to 4 games... Acree “Bucknered” a ball softly hit to him in 4th for the Bad Boys only error of the day... Larson showed why we need base coaches, ending the 3rd at 3rd, again... After being hit by a pitch in the 2nd, Acree now has more career HBP (9) than BB (8). Josh Hoke got HBP for the second time this year, 15th of his career. Those two have combined for 43% of all HBP in Bad Boys history. This has been the longest statistical breakdown of HBP in the history of sports writing. You're welcome.
