Game Notes: The Bad News Bad Boys lose in pathetic fashion once again. Scheduled starting pitcher Marc Grenon was unavailable and a game time scratch. This sent the pitching staff scrambling for a starter. Staff ace Brian Airey(0-3) stepped up to the challenge. Brian threw 4 strong innings allowing just 1 earned run. The Bad Boys porous defense gave up 6 unearned runs in all, lowlighted by the Buckneresque play of first baseman Mark Stewart. Stewart, who is 0 for his last 7 with 5 K's, would later say, "It's the type of game that leaves you contemplating retirement." As awful as the first base play was, there were two stellar defensive plays turned in by the Bad Boys. In the 1st, Travis Thomas made a running catch off the bat of David Bingham. The ball was hit to the deepest part of right center and sent Thomas crashing into the fence for the out. Later, in the bottom of the 6th, a Monarch rally was extinguished by the double play combination of Acree and Breedlove. The duo has turned a double play in three consecutive games. Offensively, two Bad Boys recorded hits on the evening. Rightfielder Steve Sloboda predicted a 2-4 night and delivered. Leftfielder Matt Aukland came through with the bases loaded in the 6th with a 2 RBI single down the third base line and finished 2-3. Next up for the 3-9-1 Bad Boys are the 2nd place Mis Tres Amigos
