Game
Notes:
The Bad Boys get off to a quick start in the season opener. The acquisition of Ryan Rhoads pays immediate dividends as he comes through with an RBI double in his first Bad Boy at bat. At the end of the first the Bad Boys held a 2-0 advantage, and all three newcomers, Rhoads, Carlson, and Romero had reached base safely in their first Bad Boy at bats. Matt Aukland picked up where he left off in '09, as he was 1-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Romero and Sloboda also had hits on the day. The Orange Hats registered 6 hits in total and stranded 8 runners in the 7 inning contest. Twice the Bad Boys' at bats ended with the sacks full. Starting pitcher Mark Stewart(0-1) struggled with his control for most of the game. In 5 innings Stewart gave up 9 hits, 5 walks, and 8 earned runs to go along with 6 strike outs. The defense was much improved, though. Carlson's diving play in the hole just to keep the ball in the infield displayed the tremendous strides the Bad Boys have made on the left side of the diamond from last year. After giving up 70 unearned runs in '09 (yes, 70!) it was refreshing to see the opener come and go with 1 error and 1 unearned run. Bad Boys are now 3-2 all-time(and hopefully for the last time) at MNP Field. Game 2 vs Cortizone 6/16 at Bellarmine, 6PM start time.
