Minnetonka (Minnetonka Tournament) 101280416173
Thunder 0200200460
Game Notes: Tournament host Minnetonka pounded out 17 hits to beat the Thunder 16-4 in the tournament championship game Sunday. Starter Spencer Pratt (3-1) went four-plus innings; he walked two and struck out two in his first loss of the season. Robbie Sikich made his first appearance of the year on the mound in relief after returning from the DL, going the final three frames and striking out one. The Thunder led 2-1 after two, but Tonka answered in the third to tie the game. The Mudhens went up 4-2 in the fourth, then put up an eight-run fifth. The Thunder, faced with being dispatched by the ten-run rule, answered with two in the bottom half to extend the game. Eastview was unable to put together a lasting comeback, as the 'Hens starter went the route and tossed a six-hitter on just 78 pitches. Cory Meyer had two doubles and scored once; Andy Gensch drove in a run with a sac fly; Adam "Iceman" Shie (RBI), Dan "Dee" Coyle (RS), Sam "Wolfman" Foy (RS), and Joel Bertelsen all added hits for the club. After earning second place in the tournament, the Thunder has Monday off before returning to action Tuesday to complete an early season division contest with Lakeville North.
