The Thunder (14-5) advanced to the winner's bracket of the State Tournament with a 9-2 win over Edina Wednesday. Veteran righthander Casey Jacobson (4-3) went the route, scattering eight hits and giving up just two runs. He walked two and struck out six. The club broke open a 2-2 tie with a seven-run fifth, and the Thunder defense held the Hornets scoreless the rest of the way. Spencer Pratt went 4-for-4 with a pair of runs, an RBI and a stolen base; Tom Bauer (HP), Joel Bertelsen (2BB,RS), Dan Coyle (2B,RS), Sam Foy (2BB) and Robbie Sikich (RS,HP,BB) all added RBI. Jacobson helped his own cause with an RBI and Pete "Z-Man" Zukanoff (BB) added a run scored. The Thunder will face East Division regular-season champion Cretin Hi-Tower Thursday. Righthander Spencer Pratt (3-1) takes the hill.
