Game Notes: As the weather finally broke into Indian Summer this weekend, the team came to play 2 games. For only the 2nd time this season, the team had to play at a time other than 9AM. The team faced the Rapids, a team that had struggled this season according to their coaches. In the 1st period, Drew, Jacob, Evan and Dan controlled the offense and had a few shots on goal but the Rapids played very strong defense and shut out our team. On defense, Richi, Jake and Josh kept the ball from ever reaching Matthew McLaughlin who rested up for the upcoming periods.

In the 2nd period, the offensive line of Josh, Richi, Dan and Jake continued to dominate the game as Alec and Matt M. and Matt L. made sure Ethan had a quiet time in goal. In the 3rd period, the Rapids put more pressure on the defense, but once again the play of Drew, Jake and Jacob turned away multiple shots and Evan in goal also made some nice saves. On offense, the team of Alec, Matt M., Ethan and Matt L. tried several times to score but the Rapids played very strong defense and stopped all shots.

At the half, the game remained tied 0-0. In the 2nd half, Drew, Ethan, Jacob and Evan tried to score but were stopped every time down the field. Dan, Richi and Josh helped to keep the score 0-0 along with Jake’s goaltending. In the 5th period, the coaches moved Alec in goal to have him rest a little after running around all game. Ethan and Jacob and Matt L. played defense and Richi, Josh, Jake and Matt M. were on offense but were not able to score against the strongest defense that the team has experienced this season.

In the 6th period, the coaches put our reliable Dan in goal and moved 5 players onto offense to see if the team could score a goal. Alec, Matt M., Ethan, Matt L. and Jacob tried to score but were turned back every time. Evan and Drew along with Dan prevented any scores.

In the end, the team tied 0-0 and preserved its perfect season leading into game 2 of this weekend.

MVP Offense: Josh Minion- Josh played a solid game on offense and made some nice passes down the field to his teammates. He also made some great throw-ins to keep the pressure on the other team. Congrats!

MVP Defense: Dan Minion- Dan played great defense especially in goal as he seems to make save after save without much effort. He was also key to keeping the ball out of the team’s defensive side with multiple stops of the ball. Congrats!

Player of the game: Jake Hyman- Jake played an all around great game as he played in goal, offense and defense. He took the ball down on offense several times and almost scored. He also had some strong kicks on defense to help out his team.
