Game Notes: Pacatonica squeezed out a victory over Mt. Horeb #1 at home in the bottom of the final inning.

The first two innings saw both teams scoreless even though Mt. Horeb loaded the bases on walks against starting pitcher D. Conwell in the 2nd inning.

In the bottom of 3rd, after keeping Mt. Horeb off the scoreboard, Pecatonica took an impressive 5 run lead by capitalizing on numerous walks, a sacrifice grounder by G. Daley, and a 2 RBI double slugged to left field by J. Melvin.

In the top of the 4th, with Pecatonica's J. Scoville on the mound, Mt. Horeb batters rallied when #9, Wehler, powered a triple hit to right field with bases loaded. Fielding errors plagued Pecatonica players and allowed Mt. Horeb to tie the game.

The Vikings would again take a shallow 2-run lead in the bottom of the 4th when G. Daley's high fly single to right center field netted an RBI, followed by another RBI on a single to left field by J. Melvin.

The lead changed again in the top of the 5th, when batters loaded bases on errors, walks and a hit batter. Relief pitcher, N. Loyd struck out two batters, but a double and a single would send more runs across the plate.

With play extending beyond allotted game time, and down by two, Pecatonica batters had one last chance at a win. After the first batter grounded out, D. Conwell earned a base on balls, and N. Loyd advanced the runner with a single to center field. When the next two batters walked, Pecatonica's tying and winning runs stood on third and second base. Then, with two outs and bases loaded, a hard grounder to third base earned J. Scoville an RBI that tied the game on a fielder's choice when T. Gilson beat the baseman to third. The winning run crossed home on the next hit, when batter G. Daley's grounder to first was bobbled by the first baseman.
