Game Notes: The Pecatonica Vikings had to dig themselves out of a hole when they faced Mount Horeb #1 at home in Blanchardville. Although the Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the 1st off singles by N. Loyd, J. Scoville, and N. Gilbertson (RBI), and a sacrifice for an RBI by D. Conwell, Mount Horeb #1 rallied to take the lead in the top of the 2nd. Pec's starting pitcher D. Conwell loaded the bases on walks, and after two consecutive strikeouts, he walked in Mount Horeb's first score. Relief pitcher J. Scoville then took the mound, threw one strike only to have his second pitch slapped out to centerfield for a 3-RBI triple. The high scoring was partly the result of numbers; with only 8 of 10 players in attendance, Pec was short a centerfielder. The two available defenders split the outfield, and the ball landed dead center between them.

But Pec's batters went to work and kept whittling away at Mount Horeb's lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, S. Swenson earned his first single of the season and would later score on a single hit by J. Scoville.

In the 3rd, Mount Horeb scored two runs when two separate base runners stole home on passed balls. One had reached base on a single popped high over second-baseman N. Loyd's vertical leap, and the other had been awarded first after being hit by a pitch. Both had advanced to third as the bases were loaded on walks. But in the bottom of the inning, Pec would match those two runs thanks to N. Gilbertson and G. Daley's doubles. Gilbertson scored on Daley's double. Then Daley took third on a passed ball and reached home off an error by the Mount Horeb catcher.

Relief pitcher, S. Swenson took the mound for Pec in the 4th and together with excellent fielding would hold Mount Horeb scoreless. Swenson struck out the first batter. The second out came when N. Loyd fielded a grounder and tagged a runner going to second base. Then an attempt to steal third resulted in the third out on a throw from catcher N. Gilbertson to third baseman, J. Scoville. Down 5 to 7 in the bottom of the 4th, the Pec batters continued their hitting spree to earn another run after J. Melvin hit a triple and then crossed home on a sacrifice hit by N. Gilbertson.

While Pec held their opponent scoreless again in the 5th, the Vikings tied the game after N. Loyd slapped a single to left field, stole second base, and scored on a double hit by J. Melvin. Melvin would later score when J. Hendrickson walked to first with bases loaded.

Leading by one, Pec's relief pitcher struck out three batters in the top of the 6th, which left two runners stranded and kept Mount Horeb scoreless for the third straight inning. Then with time running out, the Vikings let their hitters loose. Batting through their 8-player batting order, D. Conwell earned 2 RBIs on a triple, N. Loyd earned 2 RBI's on a double, and J. Scoville earned an RBI on a single. G. Daley would also reach first on a single, while some others would make it on walks or fielders' choices. But after seven runs scored, and with only two outs, the game was called because of "time". (The league allots two hours and fifteen minutes per game.)
