Notes:
Morning showers cleared out soon enough for day two of the Stateline Pony League Tournament to get underway in New Glarus. As first seed, Pecatonica was "home team" as they faced off against New Glarus #2. In the 1st inning, both teams would walk one batter but succeed in getting three outs to leave the base runner stranded for no score. In the 2nd inning, two New Glarus batters would reach base on a walk and an error, but would fail to record a hit or score against Pec's starting pitcher, S. Swenson. In the bottom of the inning, Pec would find the strike zone as six runners would score off a walk and five singles by hitters: J. Scoville, N. Gilbertson, G. Daley, J. Hendrickson, and S. Swenson. In the 3rd inning, New Glarus #2 would go 3-up and 3-out. Then Pec would fail to score despite loading the bases on an error and two batters that were hit by pitches. Down by six, New Glarus tried again to score in the 4th inning, but remained scoreless with no hits against Pec's pitcher, S. Swenson. Then in the bottom of the 4th, the Vikings increased the lead with an RBI-earning single hit by N. Loyd and numerous walks and stolen bases. With only one out, the game was called on the "Mercy Rule" when Pec scored the 15th run as J. Tollakson stole home on a passed ball. |
