Game
Notes:
Another great section game was played on tues night, this time it was between Plato and Maple lake. The Bluejays made their 1st trip maybe ever to Maple Lake . Plato came out swingin and thanks to a error got on the board in the 1st, then with 2 out Lang singled in the 2nd run. The Bluejays just struggled with the Lakers hitters during the 1st 4 inns, giving back the lead with some fielding mistakes and walks. Tailing 5-2 entering the 5th Plato got back to hitting, Johnson,KP and Ode started the inn with singles, then a error and a rbi single by Tony and this game was tied. A throwing error gave the Lakers a nice start to the 6th and they got a clutch hit to take a 6-5 lead. Trailing by a run in the 8th with runners 1st & 3rd, Johnson got thrown out at 2nd but a hustling Smothers raced home and a collision at the plate but he was safe with the tieing run.Still in the 8th tied with 2 out, ODE & eric singled, then Lang hit a ball to SS that was mis-played and the ball went far enough to let ODE score from 2nd with the go ahead run.
Bottom of the 8th Smothers relieved ODE and pitched the last 2 inns with 6 up and 6 down for the save.
Another great game, and a awesome field and atmosphere to play in. This game featured Bluejays new 3rd base coach Greg "old man" Odegaard. it didn't take him long to fit right in and use his arm to wave guys around.
SIDE NOTES, ODE came in to pitch in relief in the 3rd with 2 on no outs, then KP went to center and Johnson yet again came in to play 2nd, and made nice nice plays to help us on defense.
D-Hue gets player of the game for finding Tony's ring in the grass after the game!! Also hats off to Eric who played 1st base with a pulled groin that was as purple as the Barney bear!!
Nice win for the Bluejays who keep hope alive for a 1st round bye. see ya'll Sunday at Bluejay Stadium vs D/C.
