Notes:
A great class B section match up and a well played game on both sides. The typical Bluejay Stadium wind was gusting in from right and across to left. A pitchers duel till the 4th, the Huskies would strike after the 1st 2 made outs. The 8 & 9 hitters singled and the lead off hitter hit a 3 run homer to left. The Bluejays would battle back, JB lead off the 6th with a solo homer. With 2 outs KP would walk and steal 2nd and Boomer singled him in, 3-2 Hutch after 6 inn. In the 7th and 8th Plato would get guys on 2nd & 3rd but couldn't get them in. Then controversy in the 9th, Plato has runners on 1st & 3rd with 1 out. The Huskies get a strike out, then Eric hits a ball down the line, the 3rd base man makes a back hand attempt, the ball gets away, 3rd baseman recovers and throws to 1st, where the ball tails up the line, Eric slides left and the tag looked right. The Only persons opinion on the play that matters was the umpire and he saw it as an out. Game over 3-2 Hutch wins. This game was a very exciting war from the start. The Huskies had controversy in the 7th when they thought they had a homer but the ump saw it as a foul ball, they were all wound up. In the end the Bluejays were all wound up and it was a mad scene!!! A wild ending to a crazy game. It was a very nice crowd on hand and they got there money's worth at the park. It was nice to play a meaningfull game again, and you could tell the intensity was high in this one. A nice win for the Huskies who started section play 0-2 but have won 4 in a row and now lead the standings with a 4-2 record. The Bluejays drop to 2-1 in the section and have another big game Weds at Delano. |
