Notes:
The Bluejays made the long haul to St Michael on Weds night, in a must win game if they wanted 1st place. Plato started out flat, maybe road legs. After falling behind 3-0, the Plato offense got going in the 5th. 1 out when Smothers & Johnson both singled. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Johnson stole 2nd and Smothers scored on the throw down, then JB doubled in Johnson. 2 out and Eric hit a pop up to 2nd base but it was dropped and the tieing run scored. Boothy got the start on the hill and went 4 inns, then in the 5th ODE came in to pitch. 3-3 in the 6th, Boomer led off with a single, was bunted over, D-Hue then singled, and Smothers hit a sac fly, to score Boomer which turned out to be the game winner. A web gem in the bottom of the 7th kept Plato ahead. With a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, a soft liner was hit just out of the infield, but JB leaped and dove to make a run saving great catch. Plato would add 2 insurance runs in the top of the 9th, and Tony pitched a 1,2,3 bottom to get the save. 6-3 win. side notes.......PR tyler Lang walked to start the top 8th, and was thrown out at the plate, by SM center fielder, and that was a great play by them to keep the score at 4-3. Each Bluejay starter had at least one hit. Plato now is 1 win away from a 1st place section finish, and also 1 loss away from possible a 4 seed. it all comes down to the game sat, in Plato vs a good Maple Lake team. |
