Suns beat Cudahy Varsity 12-4 in seven innings on Saturday at Regner Park after a seven-run explosion in the fifth inning.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with five lead changes.
Suns took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. Suns scored on a two-run single by Tate Rose off B Stachowiak, plating Jake Perez and Zach Biermann.
Paul Kaufmann racked up five RBIs on two hits for Suns. He doubled in the second and sixth innings.
Eric Bould recorded the win for Suns. He tossed three innings of shutout ball. Bould struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.
In the top of the second, Cudahy Varsity grabbed the early lead, 3-0. Rakowiecki got things going for Cudahy Varsity with a single. Cudahy Varsity added more runs when Rakowiecki scored and Sagen scored.
Suns brought home two runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the second, Suns scored on a two-run double by Kaufmann, scoring Biermann and Rose.
Suns tied the game in the third on a passed ball that scored Matt Schubert.
Suns never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning. The runs piled on thanks to a two-run error, two hit into a fielder's choices, and an RBI single by Bould.
