East and Wauwatosa East Varsity both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Suns who were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-4 win at Breitlow Field.
Wauwatosa East Varsity out-hit East nine to seven, but Wauwatosa East Varsity stranded 10 runners on base.
East staved off Wauwatosa East Varsity as Wauwatosa East Varsity was unable to match the Suns down the stretch.
Wauwatosa East Varsity scored on an RBI single by Ian Quast in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Dan Scallon and an RBI single by Michael Lockhart in the seventh inning. Fortunately, Wauwatosa East Varsity wasn't able to take the lead back.
Zach Biermann racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Suns. He doubled in the fifth inning.
Biermann got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over five innings. Biermann struck out six, walked six and gave up five hits.
Danny Markwardt was charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
The game was never in doubt after the fifth, as the Suns scored five runs on two doubles.
