Face Masks

Following is a CLA Memo released today (May 9/13) regarding Facemasks concerns being address:

As result of concerns about facemasks, some members of the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) Executive and members of the CLA Equipment Review Committee (ERC) met today.

While the CLA and ERC further investigate the concerns, the CLA wishes to communicate one immediate step that can be taken.

As there have been concerns expressed about the chin cup that is attached to the Gait G7 Senior, Gait G7 Junior, ONTY N2 Senior and the ONTY N2 Junior facemasks at time of purchase we advise that it can be switched with any chin cup which is part of a CSA currently approved hockey mask.

The CLA reminds players that a CSA currently approved hockey mask also complies with CLA policy.

The health and safety of Canadian lacrosse athletes is a priority of the CLA and more information will follow as the CLA continues to examine the concerns.

Wayne Gretzky is among a long list of NHL players that honed their handeye coordination and physical endurance by playing lacrosse in the summer.

It didn't matter how cold or rainy it would be, we'd be out firing the ball against walls and working on our moves as we played the lacrosse equivalent to road hockey." "All the good hockey players seemed to play lacrosse in those days and everyone of them learned something from the game to carry over to the other - things athletes can only learn by mixing up games they play when they are young."
