Posted Dec 11/13 - Off Season Training-2nd Half

Surrey...The Chiefs would like to announce details for the 2nd half of off season strength and conditioning and hitting and throwing instruction.Starting Mon Jan 6 and running 9 weeks to Sat March 8.All boys aged 13-18 are welcome and strongly encouraged if they are trying out for either of the Chiefs PBL teams.A typical week is as follows...Sundays will be an outside track day running at Holy Cross HS from 10 to 11am.Mondays will be a core training day with trainer Gord Kerr from 6 to 9pm at Whalley.You will be put into smaller workout groups.Tuesdays will be for hitting from 6 to 9pm at Whalley.Video and swing analysis will be taken.Wednesdays are off.Thursdays will be for hitting and long tossing from 6 to 9pm at the cage.Fridays are off.Saturdays will be for catchers,pitchers and hitters.Starting at 9am to 10am catchers will work with Ernie Hawkins and Ryan Pilgrim.Pitchers will start at 10 to 11:30am and hitters will finish from 11:30 to 1pm.Thats's 13 hours of cage instruction from the Chiefs staff.Cost will be $289 payable to Chiefs Baseball.As part of the registration fee, each player will get a Chiefs majestic hooded sweatshirt.Any questions can be directed to any of the Chiefs coaching staff.

Phoenix,Az....The Whalley Chiefs would like to announce that Cole Armstrong, Chiefs alumni '02 has joined the coaching staff effective January 2014.Cole brings many years of college and pro ball experience to the staff.Cole was drafted in '01 by the Mets (didn't sign)and '02 by the Braves.Cole played at Chipola JC in Marianna Fla before signed a pro contract.He played for Canada's JNT and Canada's Pan Am Gold medal winning team.His pro line is found on the following link:http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/83107

Whalley BC...The Chiefs have entered the Martin Luther King WoodBat Tournament in Phoenix Jan.17-20.2014 in N.Phoenix.The opportunity is for the U16 player invited by the Chiefs staff up to 15 in total ,predominantly 10th graders and then if necessary, other U16 players will be supplemented from other organizations.The idea here is to create opportunities for players to compete against other solid US competition and get motivated and do it in the most economically efficient manner.An invitation will be forthcoming as an e mail to those selected.Details of the trip with specifics will be in the e mail.Questions can be directed to John Parker.

Surrey....Chiefs have decided to run a NHL Hockey Pool Fundraiser.Details will be e mailed to families and also handed out at off season workouts.Handout sheets will be given to players during the week of Nov.4.The pool starts Nov.23.All participating families are asked to sign up at least 5 names.The top seller will have a choice of a 32 or 33 inch Brett WoodBat.

Whalley October 24....The Chiefs would like to announce the details for the 8 week strength and conditioning program.Starting Sat.Oct.26 and running 8 consecutive weeks through Sat.Dec.21.This program will be supplemented in the 2nd half starting in the new year.Boys aged from 13 to 18 are welcome to work out.We encourage boys aspiring to make the Chiefs PBL or JPBL teams to participate.All instruction will be from Chiefs staff.A typical week will be as follows..Sundays will be a workout outside day at the oval, being Holy Cross HS Track on 88th Ave east of 160th.The time will be from 9am to 10am.Be prepared to run with proper footwear.Mondays will be a core training and strength & conditioning day.This will be at Whalley's facility and Gord Kerr's home gym when required..This will begin Nov.18.and will be in groups depending on numbers.You will be notified for your time to work out.Tuesdays will be in the Whalley cage from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and will concentrate on hitting.Wednesdays are off days.Thursdays will be back in the Whalley facility again from 6:00pm to 9:00pm working on hitting.Fridays are off.Saturdays are in the Whalley cage from 9:30am to 1:00pm.Catcher's will be instructed by Ernie Hawkins , Ryan Pilgrim & Pat Phalen and pitchers will throw and work on mechanics from 9:30am to 10:30am.The balance of the time will be for long tossing and hitting.Cost is $229 payable to Chiefs Baseball.That will include a Chiefs work out T, mesh shorts and a toque.Will be available Nov.2.Any questions can be directed to any member of the Chiefs staff.Hope to see you out.

Updated Oct.22...The Whalley Chiefs are offering an off season workout and training package for all boys interested between 13-18 years old.Hitting,throwing,pitching and core strength and conditioning will be covered.Instruction is from the Chiefs coaching and training staff.All workouts are at the new indoor facility at Whalley Ball Park or Chiefs club house.The cost is $199 for the  initial 7 week session starting Tuesday November 6 and running until Saturday December 22nd.Days are Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, Thursdays from 6:30pm to 9:30pm and Saturday mornings from 10:00am to 1:00pm.The coaches will instruct you on when and what time to be at the facility.The 3 hour sessions will be broken down into smaller workout groups.This is mandatory for all those planning on playing for the Chiefs in the PBL.There will be a 2 week layoff over Christmas and the we will get back at it again with more available days and times.This next session will be 8-10 weeks depending.A Chiefs work out T shirt, shorts and a toque will be part of the $ package.Majestic sweatshirts will be available also for sale.Register on line on the Chiefs site or opening night at the facility.

Surrey...The Chiefs organization is holding a fundraiser.The Developmental Disabilities Association of the Lower Mainland collects clothing and pays us $2 for the first 150 bags and $3 per bag after 151.We are asking each family to support the cause.This will help clean out your closet and all monies raised will go back into the Chiefs for new equipment at the park or batting facility.The plastic bags from the DDA have been distributed to the Senior Chiefs team.The Junior Chiefs need to pick up bags at off season workouts.The players will be responsible for getting the bags back to the club house for loading Saturday November 24 between 10am and 12 noon.Information on this program was forwarded to your home e mail address.You will find out specifics on what is acceptable to donate.Wendy Bunnett from the Sr.Chiefs will be your main contact.Thanks for your efforts and support of Developmental Disabilities and Chiefs Baseball.

Surrey....The Chiefs are announcing some preliminary information on their proposed baseball, strength and conditioning program for the off season.The workouts are open to all boys 13-18 and are mandatory for the players trying our for the Chiefs.All instruction will be at the new Whalley Baseball facility located on site at Whalley Ball Park.Instruction in the form of hitting, pitching and core training will be done by qualified Chief coaches.Specifics are yet to be determined but the plan is to have 3-3 hour sessions per week from early November to just prior to Christmas.Should amount to 7 consecutive weeks.Break for 2 weeks and then get back at it until early to mid March.Days of the week will be Tuesdays,Thursdays and Saturday mornings for the 1st half.A 2 hour session is also slotted for Wednesdays.Cost is TBD.A Chiefs work out T shirt, shorts and a toque will be part of the $ package.The 2nd half starting in early January running through mid March will have Monday catcher's clinics and more days of the week offered.More specifics will be coming shortly.Thanks for your support of Chiefs Baseball.

Interested boys aged between 13-18 are welcome to play fall ball with the Chiefs.Workouts will start Sept.4th and run through mid October weather permitting.Practice work outs will be during the week on Tuesdays,Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm.Catchers will work out individually on Mondays only from 6pm to 8pm.Games are usually played on the weekend but there are some mid week game plans.A Fall trip to Yakima is planned for Sept.28-9-30.Hotels will be looked after for those attending.Whalley has just completed a new 3000 square foot indoor training and work out facility located at Whalley Ball park.This will be widely utilized throughout the fall and winter months.Cost for fall is $225 and will include a hat and game top.Instruction is from the Chiefs coaching staff.Click here for registration details...

Updated...This fall baseball program is open to all boys aged between 13-17 that reside in the Chiefs boundaries.Games will be played mostly on weekends and practice and inter squad games during the week that being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting at 6:00pm to app.9:30pm all at Whalley Ball Park and the Indoor Training Facility.A total of 10-12 games will be played with other JBPL and Washington teams.Instruction will be from all 8 qualified coaches from the Chiefs staff.Cost is $219.00 which includes a game T shirt and a Chiefs game hat.The Yakima Tourney had to be cancelled due to conflcting times.Whalley will host a tournament Sept.28-9 for the Jr. Chiefs.Any questions can be directed to Paul Hargreaves or any of the Chiefs staff.Click here for registration details...

The decision was made to contract the Jr. Chiefs program for next season (2010) This was a difficult decision but one that seemed inevitable.The pool of talent is drying up coming out of the Jr. Chiefs source league of Whalley.It's a cycle for sure and we'll see what comes up the following year, but the Chiefs will continue with just the Sr.Team for next season.Interested boys 14-15 years of age that want to continue to play should call Dennis or Paul for further details.

Surrey... The Chiefs have hired Cardinal Sports Management Group to assist the potential student athlete in achieving the most during the baseball recruiting process.For you Junior Chiefs , this will be developed over a 2-3 year process.Using key criteria, they can decide if an offer is best suited.CSM will assist in securing official and unofficial visits to post secondary institutions.CSM will complete a detailed academic review determining the student athlete's status regarding the NCAA Clearinghouse.CSM will conduct a 'Success on the SAT' seminar for those interested.And most important, CSM will develop an on line resume profile complete with all pertinent information for colleges.The student athlete will be provided with the ability to update his profile continuously.Visit the website at: www.cardinalsportsgroup.com .

The off season strength & conditioning package has been put together as follows: We will be going every Tuesday night and every other Saturday morning prior to the Holiday break.  Tuesday nights will start on November 9th and carry on every Tuesday through December 14 (6 sessions) from 8:00pm til 9:30pm.  Saturday mornings will start on November 13th and run every other Saturday until December 11th (3 sessions) from 9:30am til 11:00am.  After the Holiday break we will be going every Tuesday and every Sunday through February.  Tuesday nights will commence January 4th and carry on every Tuesday through March 1st (9 sessions) from 8:00pm til 9:30pm.  Sunday mornings will start January 9th and carry on every Sunday through February 27th (8 sessions) from 9:30am to 11:00am.  There are 26- 1.5 hour sessions in total between November 9th and March 1st.  This off season training is 'strongly suggested' for everyone who would like to play in the BCJPBL for the Chiefs.  This package will be conducted at our sponsor, the Sport Starz Facility on 84th Ave west of 128th  in Surrey (was Walli's World) Refer to the site at the following:  www.thesportstarz.com. Congratulations are in order for Coach Dave Watkins and his Bantam aged FV Chiefs for winning the Fall Classic at Aldergrove this past weekend.The Chiefs went undefeated with a 5-0 record and beat Tri City 8-3 in the final.The Chiefs offence out scored its oppenents 45-11 over the 5 games.

Posted Sep 28/09 - Jr Chiefs take third place in Yakima
The Jr Chiefs missed the championship final at the Bleacher Bum Classic in Yakima, Washington, this past weekend by a slim three run margin. Going into Sunday's action needing to beat the host Selah team to advance to the final, the Chiefs dropped a close 11-9 decision. It was, however, a successful weekend for the Fraser Valley squad.

The Jr Chiefs beat North Shore 9-2 on Saturday to finish 2-2 in the round robin portion of the Jim Wray Fall Classic.  With three teams tied at 2-2 Fraser Valley's runs against record was best, breaking the tie and sending them to the semi-finals.
