The weather was fantastic as the Katy Boys Golf Team traveled to
Fort Bend Country club to play in the Lamar Consolidated invitational. There was a total of
9 teams and 48 golfers in the tournament. The course was playing as a Par 70, as hole 17 was converted to a Par 3
for the day due to construction. The
greens were small and the fairways narrow for the Katy Boys first Varsity
tournament for the 2010-2011 season.
The Katy Boys Varsity team which included only one Senior, shot
a team total of 330 and placed 4th in the 9 team tournament.Fosters A and B team tied for first with a
total of 302.Katy’s Cody Hebert (Jr) led the Tiger Boys with a round of 75 to end up 8th
individually while Morton Ranch transfer Taylor Adams (Soph)
posted an 87.This was the first Varsity
tournament for the majority of the Katy Boys and many of them have never played
the course but still only posted a high round of 89 that included 5 players on
the A-team and 2 individual medalist.All
in all this was a very promising showing for the first tournament of the year.
As the team continues to work hard and gain experience, I fully
expect that they will surprise quite a few teams this year.
The new Katy Tigers Website (www.ballcharts.com/katytigersgolf) is now under construction. I am hopeful to get information out on the website that is beneficial to parents and players. Along with this I would also like to get pictures from tournaments posted as well as results. Much of this is dependent on getting the information. Please feel free to send me information that you would like to get on the website.
