| The Wheatmore Lady Warriors traveled to Northwood High School in Pittsboro NC for the first round of the state playoffs. Northwood out of the Carolina 10 Conference was a 2nd seed and Wheatmore a 3rd. seed. This would be a tough match up for the lady warriors. But early in the first half Maddy Myers drove a ball in the upper right corner from 25 yards out and the lady warriors would be in the lead until 2 minutes left when northwood counter off a corner kick and dribbled down the right side of the field and turned the corner and found the back post for a score. The score would be 1-1 at the half. Once the second half started the lady warriors would find themselve on their heels most of the game. When Wheatmore got the opportunity to get into Northwoods defensive 3rd, they cleared the ball up and over the lady warriors defense and Northwoods speed would be to much to handle. Which resulted in their 2nd goal. Northwoods 3rd goal would come off a free kick late in the 2nd half that dumped in front on the the wheatmore goal. Northwood out shot Wheatmore 25 to 7. This would be one Hannah Ryans best games of the season totaling 15 saves. This also would be the second best effort by this warrior team. Thanks for a great season. |
