Posted Dec 2/11 - Pflugerville heads into Bowie Tournament semifinals with Friday wins over Leander (63-45) and McCallum (65-6); squares off against Cedar Ridge in Saturday's 1 p.m. semifinal

AUSTIN, Texas-- The Pflugerville Panthers defeated Leander 63-45 and cruised to a 65-6 victory over McCallum in pool play Friday at the Bowie Tournament, taking place at Bowie High School. The win over McCallum saw the Panthers grab an amazing 36 steals. Pflugerville, now 14-0 and ranked No. 6 in the TABC/TexPreps Basketball Magazine poll, advances to the tournament's semifinals. P'ville went 3-0 in pool play and will face Cedar Ridge at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.

The third-place game is at 5:30 p.m. while championship is set for an 8:30 p.m. tip. The other semifinal features Stony Point and Leander.

In the win over Leander, senior post Itiana Taylor netted a double-double with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Junior forward Diana Omozee added 12 points, eight rebounds and a game-high six steals while senior guard Jasmyn Booker finished with nine points. The Panthers led by 10 after three quarters, 41-31, and pulled away by outscoring Leander 22-14 in the final quarter.

Against McCallum, the Panthers led at intermission 41-3. The 36 steals are undoubtably a school record.

The Panthers led at halftime, 41-3. Senior post Itiana Taylor finished with 13 points and added nine rebounds and seven steals, while junior forward Diana Omozee had 11 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Jasmyn Booker had a career-best 10 steals to go with six points.
