The Cy Fair Bobcats topped the Cy Springs Pathers in an entertaining 4-3 win. The 2012 Senior Class was honored before the game but it was a total team effort that led to win. Cy Springs got on the scoreboard in the first two minutes off a header that slipped into the back of the net. The Bobcats were applying pressure offensively and Junior Andrew Tang tied the game at 1-1. The Bobcats continued to have scoring opportunities and Sophmore Stuart Wisman slide the ball into the corner net off an assist from Tyler Anselmi. Cy Fair went into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Cy Springs came out strong in the second period and quickly knotted the score at 2-2. With 22 minutes left , Senior Defender Luis Gonzalez dribbled in the box and fired a shot into the back net for a 3-2 lead. Just five minutes later, Freshman Steven Orihel scored off a set play with a strong header to give the Bobcats a seemingly comfortable 4-2 lead. The Pathers made things interesting when they scored from a set piece. With both teams battling for a playoff spot, Cy Springs continued to aggresively attack but the Bobcat defense withstood the offensive attack and managed the final minutes of the game for a 4-3 win.
The Bobcats are in a three team battle for the final district playoff spot with just two games remaining. Cy Fair will travel to Cy Creek on Tuesday and they will close out their district play at Jersey Village on Friday.
