Posted Nov 18/12 - McDonald's Invitational Recap

Cinco Ranch went 2-3 over the three day tournament.  The Lady Cougars played state ranked Bellaire down to the wire, defeated #4 Mansfield Summit in overtime, and lost to a stout Klein Collins team that entered the state rankings after the tournament.  Cinco also split with Pearland and La Porte, losing to the Oilers and beating the Bulldogs.

#15 Bellaire 53 Cinco Ranch 44
Lulu McKinney, Brianna Jolivet, and AJ Alix combined for 37 points to lead the Cardinals past Cinco in the opening game of the McDonald's Invitational.  Cinco received a strong effort from Sydney Thomas (12 points) and Angie Moore (11 points and 14 rebounds).  Taylor Williams had four rebounds, four blocks, and three steals.  Cinco led 31-30 at halftime but Bellaire used a 15-6 third quarter surge to pull away. 


Cinco Ranch 29  #4 Mansfield Summit 27---OT
Sydney Thomas scored 13 points to pace the Cougars to the low scoring overtime win over the 4A Jaguars.  Both teams struggled offensively but Cinco had strong defensive efforts in the 2nd quarter (1 point allowed) and overtime (no points allowed) to hold onto the victory.  Cayla Vandwerweide had the only bucket in the extra period for either team.  Taylor Williams had four blocks and Angie Moore pulled down seven rebounds for Cinco.  Jaylon McClure had six rebounds. 


Pearland 55 Cinco Ranch 47
Keara Hudnall scored 28 points to lift the Oilers past Cinco.  The Cougars had a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Pearland 19-10, but it was not enough.  Corin Evans scored 12 points for Cinco, while the trio of Taylor Williams, Angie Moore, and Jaylon McClure combined for 24 rebounds. 


Cinco Ranch 59 La Porte 45
Corin Evans scored 15 points and Sydney Thomas and Angie Moore each added 12 points to lift the Cougars to a 14 point victory over the Bulldogs.  The game was tied at 25 at halftime, but Cinco used a 21-10 third quarter to behind Moore's 11 points to pull away.  Thomas had four assists, Moore had seven rebounds, Evans hauled in 8 rebounds, and Taylor Williams had nine rebounds and four blocks. 


Klein Collins 59 Cinco Ranch 32
Infiniti Harris and Kendall Festervand each scored 10 points to pace Klein Collins to a victory over the Cougars in the final game of the tournament for both teams.  Angie Moore had 14 points to lead the Cougars.  Sydney Thomas had four assists.
