The Texas UIL the governing body of school sports in Texas has a form it must be filled out by all players starting in 7th grade (The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Form)
Cardiac Arrest takes the life of a young player each year simply because parents and coaches didn't see it as a potential problem for such young athletes .
But awareness of this silent killer has grown and now must be taken serious even at the youth level, Within the structure of the players participating at school the cost to have a player tested is only $15 dollars well worth the cost.
Because sometimes there are no symptoms or warning signs, it is time this conversation starts to take place and with the soaring cost to participate in youth sports alone with smaller numbers of kids participating because of the cost the time has come.
This test is something that should be added especially at the 12 year old level of youth sports, the topic is a must moving forward in youth sports.
