Week number two is
up and running. This week the boys will be meeting initially in the team locker
room and moving to team meeting room A for their morning log book session.
Practice will continue to be each morning at 6am including this Saturday’s
timed mile on the track. The fundraiser is going well and several have already
sold 15 cards. We turned in the money from 87 cards sold on Friday and tomorrow
is the next pre-sale check point. Each athlete should have 10 cards sold by
tomorrow and then all 15 sold by Thursday. If they have not sold all of the
cards by Thursday then Friday we will have a “card sale blitz". We
may need parent volunteers to help drive kids around if this is the case.
However, at the rate we are going we won’t need to do the “blitz.” We are very
proud of the kids efforts in selling these cards. We understand that it can be
challenging to ask someone for money but many of the people have been very
supportive and want to contribute to our program.
The boys did go run
against Seven Lakes on Saturday and it was good to see them in uniform and on a
real starting line. This gave us some two mile times to work from and eventually
improve upon. The girls team did a two-mile time trial on the new Tompkins
cross country course and also collected some data to be able to use as a
measurement in future races. So we are off to a great start and our first real
meet is only 12 days away at Cy-Ridge High School!
