The Cardinals could not continue their success, as they fell to Lincoln County, 65-56, in the Goodfellas Pizzeria National Shootout. After the first frame, the Cards were in control of the game, leading 13-8, but things spiraled from there. Lincoln County dominated the secound quarter, outscoring the Cards by 15 and leading by 10 at halftime. The margin never dwindled down enough for the Cards to get back into the game and Lincoln County left with a decisive 9-point victory. Poor shooting spelled defeat for the Cards, as the team shot 37% from the field for the entire game. Senior Caleb Wigginton paved the way for the Cards, as he scored 14 points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Sophomore Quentin Goodin again flirted with a triple-double, scoring 11 points, securing 9 rebounds, and assisting on 9 baskets. Freshman Ezra Oliver added 11 points and junior Austin Webster contributed 10 points. The Cards couldn't rely on their talent to faceoff against Lincoln County, who was a veteran-laden team. The Cards will try to bounceback Thursday against Russell County at home.
