Cy Fair lost 2-0 to Cy Woods in a lively contested district game. The Wildcats (2-3-1) got off to a fast start as the netted their first goal only four minutes into the game off a corner kick. A Cy Woods player managed to brake free on the back post and headed the ball sharply into the goal to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead. The Bobcats had an opportunity to even the score with a penalty kick in the 28th minute but Carlos Mendoza's shot hit the side post and Cy Woods was able to clear the ball out of harms way. The Bobcats went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Cy Fair came out in the second half with renewed energy but Woods was able to weather the scoring threats as both teams played with heightened enthusiasm and pace. The Bobcats threatened to score on a couple of occasions only to be denied by some solid goalkeeping play. Cy Woods also had their offensive chances but Sam Potter had two diving saves to keep the Bobcats within striking distance.
The match went back and forth with both teams struggling to keep ball possession and playing a very physical brand of soccer well into the second half. Cy Woods sealed the match with eight minutes left with a goal from inside the eighteen to make the score 2-0. Cy Fair continued to push forward and threatened late in the game but was held scoreless for the first time in district play.
