Playing their second game in 48 hours, the Cy Fair Bobcats overcame fatigue and a shortened bench to outlast Cy Ridge 2-0. The Bobcats lead the league in scoring but struggled throughout the match to find their usual offensive consistency and firepower. Midway through the first half, Tyler Anselmi got the Bobcats rolling with a free kick from 45 yards out that sailed into the upper corner of the net. Cy Fair led at halftime 1-0.
With a 1-0 lead, the Bobcats relied on their strong team defense to limit the Rams scoring opportunities in the second half. Cy Ridge struggled to penetrate the Bobcats back line and midfielders and forwards provided defensive support by trackng back and plugging the passing lanes. With 18 minutes left in the game, Freshman Adonis Pinto scored his first goal of the season from inside the eighteen to make the score 2-0. Despite a flurry of yellow cards in the final minutes, the Bobcats held the Rams scoreless for a 2-0 win.
Cy Fair continues to lead District 17-5A with a 7-1-1 record while Cy Ridge falls to 2-6-1. The Bobcats have two games next week prior to Spring Break. Cy Fair will host Jersey Village on Tuesday and then travel to the Berry Center on Friday for a matchup against Langham Creek.
