Posted Apr 9/11 - Royals Split with Everett CC
The Douglas College Men's baseball team split their double header with 4-0 Everett CC today at Whalley Athletic Park, 10-3 and 4-9.

In Game One, LHP Sean Callegari made a strong case as the team's ace again as he was solid going 5 innings, no runs and 6 strikeouts. Sean is now 4-0 on the year and has been great as our game one guy. Offensively, Douglas swung the bats well and had 10 runs on 10 hits led by strong performances by Sheldon Sinnott who had 3 hits and Jeremy Kral who had 3 RBI's and 4 quality at-bats.

Game Two, the Royals faced the best arm they have seen so far this year. Everett's LHP Ricky Holm no hit the Royals through 7 innings while striking out 11 but walking 9 (and was consistently 88-89 mph). Luckily, Holm's high pitch count had him out of the game in the eighth when Douglas picked up their 4 runs on 5 hits. The Douglas bullpen then struggled with control problems in the eighth and at the end gave up 6 runs on only three hits. Starting DC RHP Clayton Franco had another solid outing and was the hard luck loser only giving up 2 runs (1 earned) over his 7 innings of work.

The split put the Royals at 3-1 in conference with two rain out games to make up against Olympic College on Wednesday, April 20th at home.

Douglas and Everett will finish up their home and home series with a double header down at the Everett Aqua Sox pro stadium tomorrow starting at 1:00pm. Chris Foreman will start for Douglas in Game One with Brendan Clark getting the nod for Game Two.
