Posted Sep 24/09 - Chiefs head to Yakima after solid showing
The Jr Chiefs beat North Shore 9-2 on Saturday to finish 2-2 in the round robin portion of the Jim Wray Fall Classic. With three teams tied at 2-2 Fraser Valley's runs against record was best, breaking the tie and sending them to the semi-finals.
In Sunday's semi the Chiefs faced an experienced Nanaimo Pirates team that fielded their entire 2009 JPBL regular season roster. The mostly young and new Chiefs recruits did an admirable job losing a tight, well played ball game, 2-1. The Pirates then went on to edge the Abbotsford Cardinals in the tournament final, 4-3.
The Jr Chiefs now head to Yakima, Washington, this weekend for the annual Bleacher Bum Classic at Selah High School.
