| Posted Nov 10/09 - Panther JV, Freshman Squads Win Season Openers at Harker Heights |
| KILLEEN, Texas-- The Pflugerville junior varsity and freshman "A" (gold) girls basketball squads made it a clean sweep for PHS Tuesday, joining the state-ranked varsity squad in posting season-opening victories over Harker Heights. The freshman squad, coached by Patrick Hinson, upended the home Knights by a 63-19 score, while coach April Ellickson's junior varsity posted a 59-39 win. Leading the Panther junior varsity were junior forward Kaela Thompson who pumped in a game-high 16 points. Freshman forward Jonelle Smith added nine points and Coach Ellickson singled out junior forward Stacey Ogunirinade for standout defensive play. For the PHS freshmen, top performances were turned in by freshman point guard Taylor Ross who netted 20 points and Lexi Box and Raven Swain who added seven points apiece. The teams return to play on Friday, Nov. 13 when they join the PHS varsity in action in San Antonio against Converse Judson. The JV game is set for 6 p.m. with the freshman A (gold) team playing at 5 p.m. and the freshman B (blue) squad playing at 6:15 p.m. (times Central). |
