Posted Nov 21/09 - Pflugerville moves into Greater Austin Tournament championship game with 61-37 victory over San Antonio Highlands; Curtiesha Woods (16 points), Christie Mooney (14) lead effort; title game at 5:30 p.m
 AUSTIN,  Texas -- Junior guard Curtiesha Woods (pictured) came off the bench to register a season-high 16 points and collect four steals, while senior forward Christie Mooney added 14 points and nine rebounds, as state-ranked Pflugerville posted a 61-37 victory over San Antonio-Highlands in the Greater Austin Tournament semifinals Saturday (Nov. 21) morning. The win moves Pflugerville, now 6-0, into the tournament championship game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against Arlington-Martin, to be played at tourney host site McNeill HS.

Pflugerville led the 10 a.m. contest 16-8 after one quarter, and after Highlands cut the lead to five, 18-13, the Panthers went on a 6-0 run, led by Woods who had two fastbreak baskets and a steal as P'ville took a 24-13 lead with three minutes left in the half.

In the last three minutes of the half, the Panthers closed with a 9-4 run to extend their lead to 33-17 at intermission. In the half, Woods had 10 points, three assists and three steals off the bench.

P'ville held a 26-16 edge in rebounding at the half.

The Panthers pushed to a 49-26 lead after three periods behind Woods, Mooney and junior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi (10 points, 7 rebounds).

Joining Woods, Mooney and Ebomwonyi as a top performer was sophomore forward Itiana Taylor (four points, game-high 12 rebounds, three steals).

Pflugerville held a 42-29 advantage in rebounding over SA Highlands, and also 15 steals to Highland's eight. The San Antonio team shot 36 percent (15 for 42) from the floor while the Panthers hit 44 percent of their field goals (27 of 61).
